JOB SUMMARY

Helps plan, implement, and evaluate a wide variety of both organized and self-directed recreation activities and/or special events for individuals and groups of varying ages, interests, and skill levels at recreation facilities, parks, and other sites. Conducts activities and facilitates skill development opportunities. Guides the efforts of part-time, seasonal, and intermittent recreation staff, volunteers, contractors, and vendors to implement activities and events. Provides logistical support. Assists with patron transactions, such as activity registration and use permits. Provides on-site staff presence and monitoring of recreation facilities, parks, and events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Implements, and assists with the planning and evaluation of a wide variety of both organized and self-directed recreation activities and special events for individuals and groups of varying ages, interests, and skill levels at recreation facilities, parks, and other sites.
  • Prepares for activities and events; identifies necessary labor, supplies, equipment, contract services, and expense of same; recommends activity themes, curriculums, duration, services, and entertainment; estimates attendance; recommends fees and calculates cost recovery; initiates facility reservations and material purchases as directed; transports materials and equipment; sets up activity and event sites; assess equipment and site safety
  • Leads activities; facilitates and conducts programs; explains procedures and rules; demonstrates the proper use of equipment and techniques of participation; officiates sports and team activities; provides on-site staff presence and monitoring of recreation facilities, parks, and events; enforces discipline and standards of conduct; models and encourages positive sportsmanship and civic
  • Guides the efforts of part-time, seasonal, and intermittent recreation staff, volunteers, contractors, and vendors to implement activities and
