Who’s excited about fall?I know I am!

All the pumpkin! All the maple syrup!Bring on the cinnamon-infused drinks, maple syrup drizzledcakes and cookies for me!

Okay, you can probably tell I love fall.Favourite season hands down.

I recently made delicious pumpkin muffinsand opened up one of those huge cans of pumpkin puree.I had some leftover and wanted to make good use of it.

Being a huge fan of smoothies,I thought how could I use this puree in smoothie form. Then I started thinking about the flavours that go with pumpkin. Classic combos of cinnamon and nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice came to mind.Boom! Pumpkin pie smoothie! Winner winner smoothie dinner or, um, something like that.

This pumpkin pie smoothie tastes like a treat, a drinkable dessert or dessert smoothie, and we regularly enjoy it during the fall season.

By the way, these pumpkin pie bites go great with this pumpkin smoothie!

Why We Love This Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

  • It’s a great way to use leftover pumpkin puree (yay for reducing food waste).
  • Like most smoothies, it comes together in minutes.
  • It’s such a fun way to enjoy a seasonal favourite at home.
  • Of course, it tastes delicious!

What Is Pumpkin Puree?

Pumpkin puree is exactly what it sounds like … pureed pumpkin. Nothing else.

The funny thing is that pumpkin puree in and of itself doesn’t have a lot of strong flavours.

What pumpkin puree does have, however, is a lovely silky, creamy texture. When you mix warming spices with it, now you’re onto something.

Don’t confuse pumpkin puree with pumpkin pie filling. Pumpkin pie filling has other additives, like spices and sweeteners. Use pure pumpkin puree in this smoothie recipe.

Tips and Variations

  • Ensure you use a frozen banana. It helps create a silky smooth texture.
  • Only two tablespoons of maple syrup were used for the two generous smoothies. Feel free to add more (or less) to taste.
  • If you don’t need this pumpkin pie smoothie to be vegan, try honey.
  • Oat milk was used here, but almond, soy or dairy are great alternatives (if you don’t need this to be a vegan pumpkin smoothie).

I am totally ready for fall over here! I’ve been craving some of my favorite fall foods, and the early mornings have been (dare I say it) a little bit chilly. We’ve been doing smoothies for lunches quite a bit this summer, but I’m thinking I should make these soon as we get into fall mode! Sounds delicious, Dawn!

    Oh no….a potential wine allergy!!!!
It’ll be okay though, I promise. I get allergic reactions to certain wines – nothing major – just eczema-like hives on my face & chest. I usually drink a Shiraz/Syrah and overall have no issues with it. Occasionally when I try new wines I’ll run into a problem. I’ll use the bottle for cooking and stay away from it in the future.
I love all things pumpkin and would love this smoothie. I’ve never had pumpkin pie in drinkable form and suddenly feel like I’ve been missing out my entire life 🙂
Hope you have a wonderful week ♥

Hopefully, it won’t happen again…just have to keep my eye out for it! Good that you know what wine works fine for you! It would be a sad thing if I had to avoid all wine, lol 😀
Hope that you get a chance to try the smoothie soon….I’m sure you’ll love it 🙂 Have a wonderful week too, Amanda!!

Sippable pumpkin pie?? Yes please! I pinned this yummy looking smoothie! So glad you didn’t actually faint, but I would have been right there with ya if someone suggested that I might be allergic to wine. Surely you jest? It MUST have been the dinner or the cookies!
